sausage nose and bean beard

by captainchrisg @ 10.03.2007 - 07:09:59 am

I've just been told by my kids that i look like i have a sausage nose and bean face (we are watching 'big cook little cook)

being a dad is often the hardest thing in the world. living up to expectations, being strong, being fun and being protective is often a hard burden to carry, however this is offsett by the fact that my youngest who is 23 months old just told me she loves me!

the greatest privaledge in life is enabling another person to grow and develop, but this is not an easy vocation. creating the best environment for different children to develop and grow is a skill we cannot be taught or be born with. it is something we learn through our many mistakes and through the constant reflection on self.

by the way, i won the bowling. how do you enjoy the fact of winning something without appearing to boast or gloat?

did you hear the one about the two Indians and the chinese meal

by captainchrisg @ 03.03.2007 - 07:25:03 pm

probably says more about my prejudices than anything else but we had our chinese meal delivered by two asian guys this evening. i had to do a double take and almost wanted to say we didn't order an Indian, but thought better of it, i mean i'm not expecting my pizza to be deliverd by a sicilian am i.

not long after, joy of joy's my eldest threw up all over our bedroom floor and yes it is the only room in the house with a cream carpet.

i'm off ten pin bowling tonight. now that's a strange concept, knocking down ten skittles (hopefully) only for some machine to stand them up again, and then trying to knock them down again. a bit like weebles really.

green, green gas of home

by captainchrisg @ 01.03.2007 - 02:49:37 pm

have you ever wondered why the wicked witch in the wizard of oz is green (i didn't know this until about the mid eighties, as we only had a black n white telly until then; incidentally when dorothy went from her real world of kansas to her dream world (or was it) of Oz we obviously didn't get the full effect, as our screen went from black n white to....black n white). maybe they wanted to show the full effect of what colour could do in 1939. anyway the reason i mention it is because me and the family have got a touch of the 'two bob bits' we're going through loo roll like nobody's business. the thing with having 3 kids is that there is an increased chance of catching the lurgy. 'what the hell has this got to do with the witch's face in the wizard of Oz,' i hear you ask, well because of the lurgy there has been a green cloud floating above our house like something out of ghostbusters. funny how your mind jumps from one thing to another.

anyway i'm off

nice ciggie and a fry up for brekkie

by captainchrisg @ 27.02.2007 - 04:49:08 pm

listening to j.vine on the radio today and the subject was about an 8 year old boy who weighs 14st (i though we were meant to measure in kilo's now).  Anyway there were lots of people phoning and emailing in saying how cruel the mother was and how she should be locked up etc etc.  Are these people fattest/sizest. the boy does obviously not conform to social norms, so his mum is obviously a monster or a child abuser (some people might say).  we are obsessed by diet in this country, yet we allow miles and miles of superstore's to be built as well as lots of fast food chains.  if an 8 year old boy was caught smoking would we see 2 social workers, 1 policeman 2 nurses and tom cobbly sat round a table discussing what to do with them.  in fact why don't we encourage the boy to smoke that way he'll get thinner (or so i've heard).

ironically my boy thinks that because 'daddy's got a fat tummy' that he needs 2 of everything (food wise) and not one.  he has just thrown the nintendo ds at his sister (or did he just think they were playing catch.)

go on give it a snip, i promise it won't hurt

by captainchrisg @ 26.02.2007 - 08:51:25 pm

got called 'tea man today' more precisely 'are you the tea man' is this all i ever do no, i also make coffee and various other beverages(hot and cold). i've been thinking about how we label people or how we like to fit people into boxes or nice little packages which we can then stick a label onto and call it something. listening to the radio today (jeremy vine show about people in the nhs getting assaulted)i heard people talking about 'druggies' as if that's all people who take drugs amounted to. basically we just love to point the finger at others distracting the attention away from ourselves.

on a lighter note they had this woman doctor on there talking about vaseactomy's and how 99.99% of them are a snip (excuse the pun, but i couldn't resist it). yea like i'll talk about how carefree you are when giving birth and what's all that screaming about anyway.

had to separate the kids tonight as they were talking when they should be sleeping. if i were them i'd be sneaky and sleep talk (what are you going to do then dad, wake us up to tell us not to talk?)

see ya

spinning a web

by captainchrisg @ 23.02.2007 - 02:30:15 pm

once again i have embarked on trying to build a website. i have given up twice before but this time i shall succeed!!

i'm onto my 3rd day of having no sugar in my drinks and no sweet things, i feel better for it though i could just do with a bar of chocolate right now.

madagascar

by captainchrisg @ 22.02.2007 - 02:29:15 pm

just fell asleep watching madagascar with my little lad.

made me think about how we always try to contain things and tame things (the sleep didn't make me think of this, the film did)

aaaah day off today

by captainchrisg @ 21.02.2007 - 08:57:47 am

spent the last night on the sofa bed last night, my in-laws are off today. Aching all over now.

i actually got called a nerd by a friend because i started a blog.  i've never been called a nerd in my life, well there's a first time for everything i suppose.

i've decided to observe lent this year, which is the first time since i can't remember when.  never understood the giving up stuff until recently.  i guess the giving up stuff is  a discipline, a way to train ourselves, a way to enable us to look into our lives.  so i've decided to give up sugary things and to take on evening prayer (northumbrian) as well as morning prayer.  i'll need all the prayer to get me through the lack of sugar intake!

well i'm off to finish my sugarless coffee yuk!

sleep sickness

by captainchrisg @ 20.02.2007 - 07:29:51 am

well I'm already into my second day of blogging (if that is a technical term). I have discovered that over the last 2 days I have sleeping sickness. My kids have been sick and I have had little sleep.

Thought for the day! Even not a carrot do i lick, one still ends up in my sick!!

Have a good day

first time, be gentle

by captainchrisg @ 19.02.2007 - 09:52:43 pm

well it's official Tesco is in league with the devil (alledgedly). i'm sure i can hear them in my back garden building yet another store.

this is a weird experience writing something down that people who i do not know may read.

maybe it's just another way to air dirty laundry, or a 21st century version of confession.

maybe we just have too many thoughts in our head and we need creative ways of getting rid of them in order to realease space for more thoughts.
